Gamelan Kusuma Laras
Based at the Indonesian Consulate General in NY since 1980, GKL is directed by world-renowned Javanese gamelan master I.M. Harjito, Professor of Music at Wesleyan University. AICEF's grant supported the three special guests: Darsono Hadiraharjo (director of the Emory University Gamelan) , Heni Savitri (artist in residence at UC Berkely), and Veronica Retnaningsih (artist in residence at Wesleyan University)

Wayang Worlds Wayang is a short film created by Daniel Haryodiningrat, director of the Ullen Sentalu Museum in Yogyakarta, and Dr. Matthew Cohen, professor of Puppetry Arts at the University of Connecticut. The film explores 3 unique and rare wayang (shadow puppet) traditions, one in the US and two in Indonesia, through discussion as well as performances. Click Here to View the film. ARCINDA
A community organization based in Colorado, ARCINDA (Arts and Culture of Indonesia), hosts cultural events showcasing gamelan and dance. AICEF's grant supported guest artists: Muryanto (gamelan leader at the Embasy of Indonesia in DC); Baghawan Ciptoning, dance graduate from ISI Yogya and active choreographer in Colorado and California; and Dr. Nurlina Syahrir, a dancer and professor in the dance department of Makassar State University.
